Ernest Felton Baker is a storyteller using dance and film to reveal truth.

 
 

After being named the first U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts in Hip Hop Dance by the White House, Ernest was invited to perform at the Kennedy Center, Art Basel Miami, HBO’s A YoungArts MasterClass with Bill T. Jones, and during his YoungArts: Homecoming residency in Opa Locka, Florida. In addition, Baker also choreographed the Off-Broadway play, One Nation, One Mission, One Promise at The Players Theater, and HOME, a musical theater production which he also directed held at Harlem Arts Festival.

Since shifting his practice to unify dance and film, Baker choreographed JONAH, which was awarded Best Short Film at San Francisco and Salamanca Moves Dance Film Festivals, as well as featured in Alicia Keys’ Criminal Justice Reform campaign. Baker then served as the creative consultant and choreographer for the Netflix series, Explained, “Dance Crazes” episode. As a director, Baker most recently premiered his short film PRELUDE | IDENTITY: a process of belonging at the 2023 Bessie Nominated “REP: Introspection” by choreographer, Sidra Bell.
